Josh Ryan Evans
Thursday November 15, 2001

Josh Ryan Evans: Hello everybody, thank you for coming and thanks for your support.

crystalsrose asks: What is your character about in "Passions"?
Josh Ryan Evans: Timmy is a doll that has come to life and now he has a best friend who happens to be a witch. She is kind of like a motherly figure. It's a very interesting character. He can do anything, be anyone, do anything, be any age. He has so many options! It is a great character.

GurlTalk14 asks: how do u like being a bad guy on passions?
Josh Ryan Evans: I don't think that Timmy is a BAD guy.. Bad as in cruel. Timmy is more good. He is always trying to have Tabitha join the good side and have her not do such mean and nasty things. He is young and good at heart. He just wants everybody to get along. He is in it for the fun!

Jodifornes asks: What do you think about Tabitha making a girl doll for Timmy?
Josh Ryan Evans: It's not my focus. It would be an interesting storyline if they did it. But I think that Timmy is more interested in real girls if anything. He's just a cool guy that wants to have fun and have a normal life and actually be real one day.. And just have fun! No more scary stuff.

deafy asks: Josh, this may seem like an unusual question, but I am a deaf young adult who is interested in attending the fan club luncheon.. How would you feel if a sign language interpreter were to interpret the event?
Josh Ryan Evans: I would love it! I don't find any difference in anybody. I actually want to create an organization that is called "U.S.S.". If you're average, you're not one of us! :) Anybody who has a disability or wears different sized clothing or needs special help in the public.. it brings them all together into one! You're one of us. So I would be all for having a translator.

GurlTalk14 asks: How long have you been on passions?
Josh Ryan Evans: Since the fifth episode. But I've known about it and worked with them from the beginning of it -- the first script. I was waiting for the first script. And then I was waiting for the second script even more because I had read the first one and it was like nothing I had ever read! It's not just a soap opera, it's Passions!

Jodifornes asks: How long have you been in show biz?
Josh Ryan Evans: The fifth episode was two and a half years ago. I've been in show business for four and a half years, professionally.

Tracie asks: HI, Josh, I just wanted you to know that you do a great job on Passions

Tracie asks: The show is kind of refreshing and has an unusual plot most of the time. Very imaginative.
Josh Ryan Evans: Thank you so much! We love our teen people and we love that part of it that is so different. We are glad you're enjoying it.

Tracie asks: Do you have anything new and exciting coming up on the show? Any new movies?
Josh Ryan Evans: A lot of things new and exciting coming out on the show. Some I don't know, some I do. But if I told you, I'd have to kill you. :) All of you, I'd hunt you down! But I'm not a terrorist :) "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is coming out on DVD and Home Video on November 20th and I play the young grinch. It is a great Christmas classic. I loved working with Ron Howard and Jim Carrey

GurlTalk14 asks: Are you really 18?
Josh Ryan Evans: No, I'm not 18 I'm 19! :-) I'll be turning 20 (as I say with a moan..) in January

crystalsrose asks: How did you like working on "The Grinch"?
Josh Ryan Evans: I LOVED it! Ron Howard is such a nice guy! He's a really really nice guy. He makes you feel like you're his best friend and he's just a normal guy. He was an idol of mine, a professional hero, beforehand. What's great about it is that after working with him in such a big production, he is even more my hero. Jim Carrey is a laugh riot. He is absolutely amazing. He gets SO into the part while he is filming. He is so into working. He would spontaneously combust for the director if the director asked him to! He is THAT for the project. If it wasn't such heavy make-up, I would have had no problems. But I had five and a half hours of make up because it was just like Jim Carrey's except smaller. It was great, they treated me as an equal. It was a wonderful project.

Ruteger asks: Have you occured any other business opertunities while working on Passions, ie: commercials, etc?
Josh Ryan Evans: Actually, I had a commercial -- two national commercials -- beforehand. I also had a movie called "P.T. Barnum". It was an A&E Hallmark mini series and I played Tom Thumb. And I did a recoccurring -- two episodes -- on Ally McBeal as the 10-year old genious lawyer. It was great to work with David E. Kelley. I've also done 7th Heaven. My first year working on passions, I did "The Grinch" and 7th Heaven while I was doing passions! Whew, that was a heavy schedule. Whew, no wonder I"m tired! Everybody on Ally is great... and everybody here (at Passions) is great. My co-star Juliet Mills, I wouldn't be able to make it through a day without her!

GurlTalk14 asks: Do you really have a crush on charity?
Josh Ryan Evans: Are you asking about Josh or are you asking about Timmy? Timmy has a crush on Charity. Molly, the actress, is a great girl. I work with her every day. But I'm saving myself for Britney Spears!! Oo Sarah Michelle Gellar -- I can always use a vampire slayer!

Jodifornes asks: What is your most embarracing moment on the show?
Josh Ryan Evans: My most embarassing moment on the show... There are so many!! I think I have two of them... When I was dressed up in drag, I make an ugly girl. I looked a lot like Cindy Lauper in the 80s. Another time is when they caught me singing in the Rabbi suit, they caught me on film singing "If I Were a Rich Man". I was trying to get into it and it was kind of an uncomfortable outfit. When I was getting into it, I was singing. Someone said "You were rolling on that, right" and I just stopped cold and said "WHAT??" and I turned and saw that the camera was on me. Another one for McKenzie and me was when I fell in her coffin and kissed her like sleeping beauty. Neither one of us knew what to do because we were really good friends. They were playing a joke on us. We both kissed and we realized that they were holding it just to make fun of us. Be both turned bright red. She is gorgeous. I was so nervous and uncomfortable about it! It was embarassing because it was my first kiss! They got us to hold it for a few seconds, but they didn't yell "cut" just to play the joke on us. There we were, looking at each other, with our eyes closed. It was a very awkward moment. I heard one of the crew laugh, and then McKenzie and I just jumped up and we all started laughing. We were bright bright red!

umbar's girl asks: What did you most like about working on the set of "Ally McBeal"?
Josh Ryan Evans: The cast and crew! Calista Flockhart and David Kelley. David is an idol of mine. I've been very lucky to work with the best writers, the best creators of art in Hollywood! .. and Simon Wincer from P.T. Barnham. James E. Rilly on Passions is a great writer. I've worked with the best in the industry. Emmy award winning Peter McNichol. Jim Carrey... I just can't believe the people that I've had the opportunity to work with. They are geniuses in their field! Incredibly nice people and everybody at passions is wonderful to work with. They are the nicest group of people, I wouldn't be able to get through this without them. We work very hard for the show -- to make this crazy wonderful show for you! We do at least five episodes a week. What a lot of people don't know about daytime is how hard the actors work. We actually tape one hour of television per day. So we are doing at least one hour of television per day and working hard -- the producers, the crew. I just finished a script, and I have another one to do tonight. So my head is a little crazy!

blossom asks: How do you memorize your lines?
Josh Ryan Evans: I memorize them in short-term memory.. That is the only way that I can do it. They go in and then they go out once they've yelled "cut". I get the script about a week ahead, guaranteed, and I read it the day before. I cross my fingers and say a little prayer and hope that it comes out the right way! There are HOURS of cuts and out-takes on the cutting room floor!

teenhollywood_marc: Looks like we're out of time for this evening! Thanks for joining us, Josh. Last words? :)
Josh Ryan Evans: Thank you for coming and I hope that you enjoyed it. Don't forget to watch the show. If you are a fan, you'll LOVE what's coming up this winter. If you don't know what Passions is, watch it and you'll be hooked! You'll love it. Grinch fans, it is coming out on the 20th. At 2pm on most NBC stations, you can watch Passions. Watch it and you'll thank me later! And I thank you for logging on and chatting!
